Balsam fir resin has long been used as a natural remedy. Native Americans already advocated its use to treat various ailments and diseases, such as the flu and scurvy.
Its use was then anchored in Quebec culture in different forms of employment (resin, turpentine). Fir tree gum was the first natural product marketed by Léo Désilets Maître Herboriste Inc. at the start of its activities in 1974 . The German Commission E has approved its use in particular in the treatment of respiratory inflammations.
More recently, this product was recognized by Health Canada as a Natural Health Product.
